I'm picking up a LH McMillan Signature titanium mountain rifle with it's titanium action.--very clean rifle. The original titanium barrel (which were subject to severe galling) is long gone.
I'm looking to build a LH superlight and will be rebarreling from the chunky .280 wiseman tube on it now.
Obviously this one utilizes a Micky stock...

I'm wondering if this action is a LH Remington 700 clone? Is it threaded for a 700 style barrel? I don't have it in hand yet, but it looks exactly like a 700 action, hence the questions.

Any thoughts? Anyone own a McMillan rifle?

If it's the G30 pushfeed it has the Remington footprint. But its like comparing a Rolls Royce to a Chevy. I'm confident you'll be pleased with your rifle, especially if it was made when Kelly McMillan was running things.

Thanks guys...I'm learning more as I go with this. I believe this is indeed an early "McMillan" rifle. And it appears the foot print is a 700 clone.

The goal is less-than-5 pounds naked, and 1" moa.

Larry, pics when I can...

I just picked up a LH McM 223 a couple weeks ago built on the MRCT action. Found out the rear bridge is the same as a M-700, but screw holes are 8-40's. So, I had to get on Amazon to find some 30mm Talley lightweights with 8-40 screws.

Good luck with the build.

Interesting...I wonder why the 8-40s with such a light recoiling caliber? Maybe they were stripped at some point?

My smith has 8-40'd standard talleys for me in the past.

McMillan uses 8-40's on their new actions as do the new LAW rifles and a few other custom 700 clones. Probably not needed but it's part of the overkill philosophy. You don't need to gunsmith Talley LW's either...

Yeah, in the past I've had him open and counter-sink the standard LW talleys...a painless $10 gig.
