I've got the 270 cal covered pretty well, as well as the 30 cal magnums

Stainless Classic in 270 WIN (it's being converted to a 35 whelen at the moment)
Classic Sporter in 270 WBY
Stainless Classic in 270 WSM

Stainless Classic in 300 RUM
Stainless Classic in 300 WBY
Classic Sporter in 300 WM

I really need a pre 64 or two to add to my list, just got to stop buying these Classics.

GSPfan: I have 10 (ten) pre-64 Model 70's in caliber 243 Winchester, alone!
So yeah - I am of the mindset that having "duplicate calibers" is of NO detriment or consequence at all.
In fact I like that situation.
Had one of my hard copy inventories out and decided to go ahead and see how many duplicate calibers I have and it came to 11 (eleven) calibers I have more than ONE of.
And if I would not have "traded off" a 358 Winchester Featherweight a while back I would have 12 (twelve) sets of multiples.
When it comes to Winchester pre-64 Model 70's I say, the more the merrier.
Long live The Riflemans Rifle!

P.S.: Whoops I forgot to include a triplicate set of 300 Winchester Magnums I own (two Westerner-Alaskans and a Bull Gun) so my number should indeed be 12 (twelve) sets of multiples.

Needless to say, I DID come to my senses and left it alone.

Good for you John. You would have deserved a lashing if you would have cut 4" off of an LC smith.....Damn.. laugh. Actually, my Sterlingworth has a 30" full and modified barrels. Back then, they were made for paper wads and were choked a little tighter than todays standards, so mine is actually about an extra full and improved modified.... Shoots pretty tight with modern ammo...

bsa, you're certainly right about the tight chokes. Full meant FULL. Was asked once not to bring that same Smith back to the Marine Rescue Squadron's turkey shoots out of "fairness". Told 'em I would meet them halfway and only shoot the right bbl:)

Ha ha... That is funny.... They laugh when you pack an old side by side out to the line, until you start dusting them with it... Then it's a whole different look you get... laugh
