The 250 can be made from 22-250 brass by re-sizing the neck. Then the round can be a reloaded. if you don't reload it will be difficult to find. Lots of luck but it is a cool little round.

The only two factory loads that I am aware of are mediocre at best. Of the two, I prefer the 100 grain Winchester/Olin Silvertip to the 100 grain Remington PSP, but prefer the 87 grain Speer HotCore to either.
What are you going to shoot it in?

Winchester officially dropped it so Remington is the only source in factory loads and they are seasonal, VERY seasonal. You'd think Nosler would pick the .250 up since they load some oddball stuff.

Thanks all. This friend has several rifles. Some custom but he does not hand load so factory is it. He also has a custom shop XP-100 they made in 250. Appreciate replies and welcome others for sources of ready made ammo. Thanks again.

Keep an eye on sites like Wisconsin Cartridges, Buffalo Arms and Reeds Ammo. I know they've all had custom loads in the past. No personal experience with any of them.

There are sites that do custom reloading. One of them is close to me up here in central PA. He ships reloads all over the country. Maybe your friend could get in touch with a custom reloader. The outfit up here is Crooked Creek Arms but there are many others.

The poor selection of factory ammo for the 250-3000 prompted me to get into reloading when I was still in grade school and that was nearly five decades ago. Maybe it is time for your friend with multiple 250-3000s to take the plunge.

Jeff I can't disagree. Probably a matter of time constraints...

Folks, Was at the local pawn shop this AM and there is a take-down 250 there. Appears to be older from the wear, rotary magazine, and stock wood, was way cool. Muddy

Thanks all for the helpful info My intended point was that the 250-3000 has been a reloader's cartridge for most of the nearly fifty years that I've been shooting it, so your friend's decision to embrace it should have come with the understanding that factory ammo might not be an easy fine. A friend of mine has a couple dozen of boxes of Winchester/Olin 100 grain Silvertip ammo from the late-1970s, or early 1980s, shortly after Winchester/Olin switched from yellow to white boxes. I doubt that it is cheap, but he may be willing to sell some of it. If you think that your friend might be interest, PM me and I'll ask my friend.
