I have a coffee can of Lyman #429421 all ready to go.
It makes me feel like a wealthy man.

There are a couple of pre-lock 5" 629's out there...

Love mine.

Near perfect packing gun and pairs great with the 77/44.

Keeping an eye out for a good deal on a Model 69 in the future. Think one of those would be skookum, as well.

They are faux ivory from Eagle Grips. I think the place is called Eagle Grips.

I figured they were bone. I guess a "tusk" is close enough.

Good. The prices for 29's, particularly "pinned and recessed" 29's (a meaningless feature given the strength of modern brass; and an unreliable proxy for overall mechanical quality, given that P&R'd guns were made well into the late 1970s after S&W quality had begun to decline precipitously) on Gunbroker are ridiculous.

A "want to buy" ad here should shake one loose for a decent price. Any pre-29, 29, 29-1 or a 29-2 with an "S" prefix serial number (indicating pre-1969 production) would make a great piece; the "N" prefix guns made before 1979 are generally quite good as well but I wouldn't buy one sight unseen unless it was from someone whose opinion I trusted.

If you want a more recent gun, I'd hold out for a 29-4 or 29-5 as they have all the modern "Endurance Package" features while still being relatively finely finished and without MIM parts or the internal lock.

Are they the "Ultra Ivory" that Eagle makes? I've had my eye on them for awhile but have yet to see good pictures of them under natural light.

Yes. I believe they call it Ultra Ivory.

Their website sucks, and they're slow as fugk. But their grips are pretty nice.

Oregon,

Here are some more pics of those grips. I don't know if they help or not. I just lie and tell everybody they're real.

Thank's 'Flave, those look great. Think I'll put in my order and get in line. I've got four pairs of Ivory Micarta grips coming from John Culina in the next month, but that'll still leave many grip-less N-frames in my safe... The madness never ends.

I think they were around $100.00?

I'm pretty patient but weeks went by so I called. They admitted they fugked up. Said they were going out tomorrow. I waited a few more weeks. Called. They put me on hold for about 30 minutes. Came back and said they "found my order and my grips."

I'd still order from them again. Just be ready to be patient.
