I'm thinking of buying a new or used Subaru forester. I'm just wondering if anyone has one and can tell me the good and bad? I'm 6'5" so the vehicle does need a fair bit of room. I also have a few big friends so a some space is a must. I also like the half way decent fuel mileage that you can get with the Subaru forester and that roof rack for my kayak is a big plus.

anyone have another mid size suv that they can recommend?

The Subaru Forester and Subaru Outback are widely recognized as the most popular vehicles for Lesbians

Google it

Hence the name "Lesbaru" and "Subaru driver" to describe a carpet muncher

They're pretty good cars if you don't mind their advertising to queers. I've had 3 over the years and all have gone over 300k without major repairs. Mine were all pre-forester, though. They used to sell the basic car and you could put on a bunch of add-ons if you wanted to. Then they started making the add-ons stock even if you didn't want them and jumped the prices way up.

They aren't big car so you just have to drive one to see if it's big enough for you.

I'm thinking a Mini Cooper might better fit your needs.

Some of the older ones had issues with head gaskets and wheel bearings , if you keep an eye on the known issues for your year and deal with them you can drive the things for long long time.

We applied a Gadsden flag and CCDL sticker to my wife's 2001 to help with the image issue.

One thing like about the subaru, is our 2001 is very simple, not many gadgets and even after 14 years every thing works like it should. Milage is ok, many cars are better, but its better than big SUV's and trucks, Its not a peppy driver and I wouldn't consider it an off road vehicle, but with a set of snow tires its the best snow car I have ever driven.

One other thing I like about the 2001 we have is that the wheel wells, rockers and door bottoms are plastic or covered in plastic. With near 200K, most in the winter (wife drives a Miata in the summer) there isn't a spec of rust on the thing.

I had a '98 and now a '00 Forester.

Older 2.5's had the head gaskets go. Wheel bearings from the factory sucked. Timing belts.

Other than that they are pretty solid. A bit tinny, like most Japanese cars.

They do great off road if you don't go full retard.

You can fit a couple dead deer, all your gear, and a buddy easily and get 24 mpgs on the way home.

Lesbians will accept you as one of their own as well.

I'm thinking about getting a new one. I have my eye on a 2012 with 40,000 miles for 15,000. I also know where there is a 2001 with 100,000 miles but the engine is starting to leak out of gaskets. I guess every older car that I've had has had that problem.

A high percentage of the residents of Fairbanks are lesbians; (I'm making an inference). Subs are very popular - and apparently successful- here; this includes both Forester and Outbacks, especially the latter. My A&P brother who drives old Volvos to beyond 500,000 miles, works on his partner's cars, usually Subarus, and she has gotten great service out of them. Driving pickups to prove you aren't gay is....well, gay! laugh

In 2008, I visited Bozeman about this time of year. After 4 days of seeing Subarus seemingly everywhere, I asked a local lady why that was so. She said, "Well, have you ever been here in the Winter?" When I said I hadn't, she said, "Spend a Winter here, and then you'll understand."

Very popular around here. Work well for several of our friends. We get icy roads and snow conditions every winter, but few will use snow chains. E

YOu can google subarus and other competition and compare legroom and any other measurement.

I have owned 2 of them, they were the most problematic cars I have ever owned. I don;t speed, drive on paved roads and keep all my cars/trucks up to date on maintenance.

I spent more money on repairs on those 2 cars then I have on any car/truck I have owned except a 2004 Silverado.

I had a subaru brat back in the day when I had long hair and no girls thought I was a lesbian damnit!

This lesbian thing came up when Subaru started running big ads in queer publications. They targeted that audience. I don't know if it worked or backfired.

Not only do actual lesbians look like the heifers on the right, take your average woman with issues and kick it up 100 fold and you'll have the real deal.
