I learned something about bulk Fiocchi ammo this last week,
I purchased a 200 round ammo box of Fiocchi .223 50 gr V-Max like I always use because I get .50 groups with it in my CZ 527 but this is the first time I ever purchased it in the 200 round ammo box, it was cheaper.
when shooting it I saw I was not getting the tight grouping that I in joyed in the past, and when I got back home I compared the ammo to the non bulk ammo that I had at home and saw a difference in the casings, the bulk ammo casings looked like they were heat treated at the neck of the cartridge,is this from reforming the case from production? or production reloads ? now this is all new ammo that I'm looking at and with the same # number 223HVA50 ?

Almost sounds as though the cases have been annealed. Not sure how that could affect accuracy though. Maybe a different powder used? Pull a bulk example and one from a retail box and compare.

Thanks that sounds like what it could be annealed I have seen it on other cheap Fiocchi SP ammo also and I never got good grouping with it. it must be from a high speed production line or something.

If it shoots as good as you say, I wouldn't balk at it at all....

The bulk Fiocchi I bought didn't balk either.

WALK!

Bases loaded!

Annealing is only a problem if it's done gooey soft, which isn't common.

Probably a different lot. After you've shot some, go ahead and examine the cases closely for fired length, how they fireformed at the base (round or not). Compare them to the usual stuff, if you have those cases laying around.

Have bought the same stuff a couple times. Shoots .75 groups at 200 yards with a savage axis. Go figure. Pretty impressive to say the least. ED K
