In the process of building a 26 Nosler and want to use a Remington 700 Action. From what I've read, Nosler designed it to fit into a 30-06 length action. However, the round is built on a 404 Jeffery case IIRC. I believe this rim will fit into a standard Remington bolt face, but is it difficult to open up a 30-06 bolt face to magnum dimensions?
Would I be better off to use a Magnum action for the added length and girth in the mag box?
It's been awhile since I've been this route, so I'm not sure of the answer any more. This would open up a whole lot of actions I could find to build this rifle on- otherwise I need to find a magnum action to build on, which has been difficult in the budget I'm trying to stick to.
TIA,
Bob
