After February inner-ear surgery, I'm now ready to start shooting again. Jon Beanland built me a 6.5 SAUM that I took delivery of and I'm getting my dies ordered. It's built with a .298 reamer. I'll be using Remington 7mm SAUM brass. Is this all I need?

Do you already know the typical wall thickness of the brass?

Thinking out loud:

.294" sized diameter for .296" loaded diameter

.296" - .264" = .032" of brass

.032"/2 = .016" wall thickness

That would be on the thick side for my cartridges, but I don't load the one you're considering. SAUM brass may run thicker than what I'm used to.

Several folks who went with the no-turn option have reported online that they end up turning anyway. I turned some 7SAUM brass last night and it started out quite a good bit thicker than .0145 I wanted post-turning. I may still have some left that is not turned yet and can measure.

I opted to turn with my .298 neck 6.5 SAUM.

My Norma brass (7Saum) was .016 to .018 before turning

Measured some Remmy 7mm and it was 0.018-0.020 at thickest.
