Here's one option. Don't have any idea what he charges, but you can look around. He may even know of a take off set for sale.

Another option:

A .44mag #3 is a pretty rare and desirable gun. If original now don't do anything irreversible.

its all original, but has been shot. thats why i want a set of number 1 wood to put on it so the originals dont get the snot beat out of them. no point in having a gun that you dont shoot

No doubt that No.1 wood looks classier on a No.3. But, my experience with this is that the pistol grip on the No.1 wood does not fit the No.3 lever well and you wind up with not a good grip on the pistol grip.

You need to put your fingers over the tail of the lever, or have small fingers to go under. Some people put more curve in the rear of the lever to make finger room underneath, but I wouldn't do it to an unmodified rifle.

I do have two #1 stocks I would sell.

One has a repaired split behind the tang and some dings in the side of the stock. Original owner fell on rocks with the rifle. Gunsmith repaired it with epoxy. Slight ridge at crack-not sanded yet. No butt pad.

The other is in good shape but has been shortened by the thickness of the recoil pad. It is the same length as the regular stock's wood only.

I'll take some photos that may show condition if anyone is interested.

I have no idea what these stocks are worth now. Can anyone give me an idea?

Bruce

My ISP quit hosting photos, etc. so I've been looking for an alternative.

Try this for the short stock.

And this for the cracked stock.

I would leave it alone and shoot it the way it is.
Take what you save and spend it on ammo and travel.

That is the plan now, had it out today and after a little tweeking have it sighted in good enough for anything that round will handle. now to try to shoot it till it falls apart
