Just cleaning up the loading bench and found a few 60 grainers, and figured I'd try them in the new 1 in 9 twist .222
60 Grain NBTs shot handily into an inch, right out of the gate.
60 Grain V-Max only very occasionally HIT THE PAPER! WTF! They flew everywhere!
They are SUPER accurate in my 1 in 10 .223 but the deuce wasn't having any....

Some rifles have the fickleness of a woman.
Sounds like one of my .308's.
It will shoot 150gr NBT under 1/4 MOA, but when I feed it 155gr NCC's the groups open up to 12 MOA.

I'd convert some .223 brass to .222 and try it. It's gotta be that headstamp.

if you have some SR 4759, try a 15 grain charge of that...
that powder has tightened up some inaccurate rifle barrels for me...and some inaccurate bullets...
at least it would tell you if its the bullet or the load..
3031 is also a sleeper for tightening up inaccurate loads...
I don't remember if I got that from Mr Barsness or someone else who is a lot smarter than me... but whoever it was, it worked great....

John...I decided, since I was just farting around...to can that bullet in that gun. I have a very nice 55 gr. Horn load if I want a conventional bullet and a really good TTSX load for deer and pigs...so I'll leave it at that. Yeah.......right!

And the winner with the correct answer is - Shrapnel

223 Rem, my favorite cartridge - you can't argue with truckloads of dead PD's and gophers.
