Heck, the guy I hired to eradicate wild pigs shot 'em in the traps with a .22 LR. Used a lever action with a red-dot laser sight. Dot on head, squeeze trigger, dead pigs. Don't try this at home, he had a special permit from DF&W to use rimfire.
Other hunters used AR-15's with great success. They're just pigs not dragons.
