Looking at one of these to make into a plow truck for ice fishing. I know nothing about this engine. How does it compare with the 6.8 gas or even the older 460? It will plow and pull fish houses so how is the torque and does it generate the torque at lower RPMs? Good reliability? Any recurring problems? Any personal experiences? Thanks in advance.

My truck is a 2014, and I have the 4.30 rear end, but mine has no problem pulling our 12,600 pound dry fifth wheel.

Yes it drops down into 3 or 4th for big hills, but having owned diesels before, I knew that was one drawback of the gas engine.

12,000 miles and no issues at all.

There may be front suspension needs for plowing. My BIL bought a F350/6.2L off the dealer's lot and it came with the plow option. It rides much rougher than my '09 Chevy 3500. His F350 has no problem with any of the towing tasks he's asked of it.
He does admit the torque comes on at higher rpm than the 460 he owned years ago, or the 8.1L Chevy he still owns.
