Considering a hunt with 40 Mile Air out of Tok in 2016. Would love to hear about your experiences. Photos always welcome.

Looks like another slow year for the 40mile hunt from what I read most of the herd is in zone 2. If I was going to spend money on a hunt for caribou. I would look at flying out of Happy valley and chase the western arctic herd.
Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

Spent 4 days on Susistna Lake camped on top of great caribou sign but never saw a single animal. Water was so low I couldn't get the boat into Tyone for the weeds.
I haven't heard how the haul road hunters have done this year.
Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.

My buddy hunted the McCombs herd they did pretty good. But that hunt is only for residents.

Young man I work with at Jakes Archery, Orem, Utah was up North a few weeks ago with his dad. They both got their Dall rams and Josh, a very accomplished hunter and elk/mule deer guide in Utah, got his Barren Ground bull. Measurements put it a #2 in the all time Pope and Young records.

Measurements put it a #2 in the all time Pope and Young records. Nice bull. Has it been 60 days already? Did they have to strip the velvet to measure?

Not 60 days yet and I believe P&Y does not require stripping the velvet.

IIRC you can submit stripped or not, different categories as it should be.
Don't much care for them in velvet but thats a heck of a bull.

Cool photos and great bulls. Two more years and I'll be on the tundra.
If it was easy, everybody would do it.

I'm waiting for one (or several) to come to me.... just another month or so before the Sound freezes enough so they can start crossing to this side on their migration. I probably (he says now) won't ever be dumb or greedy enough again to take my 5 per day limit- did that once. I'll spread 'em out, like.... if they cooperate. And I'll be shooting pregnant cows, likely with a calf (not legal take) of the year which is then unlikely to survive the winter. This will help drive the WACH declining "of concern" numbers down even farther. It's the (really stupid) law! But hey, I'm willing to follow regulations - and them things all eat the same. Or better.
