Going into our 3rd week of early teal only in SW Iowa with no birds.Very unusual as we were done in 45 minutes last year on opening morning.
Anyone else seeing this?

We're hot yet. Probably 80s again next week. I haven't seen any birds leaving here yet. Nor have I seen any birds coming in from Canada either.

Still real warm here in Alberta. Haven't seen any around here yet. Still waiting for some cooler weather to start moving them.

Hunted Kentucky lake near Eva TN last Saturday, there had been 800 or more birds in the milfoil Thursday. Friday pm we saw maybe 200, shot 3 woodies and 1 bluewing Saturday am-no big flocks of teal at all, just some stragglers.
We had a cold front push in that Friday night, my guess is the teal in our area went on to Mexico. It was a heck of a sight while they were here.

Your state has the common sense to let you pop some woodies during the teal season !!

I hunted for a couple hours Saturday morning. We had a pile of them in the decoys before shooting time, but they cleared out right when they needed. They sure are fun to hunt. I'm looking forward to waterfowl season this year even more than normal.

I hunted Texas (SW of Houston) and Louisiana (south of Lake Charles) - 4 total hunts, and took 22 (if I remember right, I had 20 blue and 2 green wings). Here is a pic of my son and I after our hunt last Saturday outside Garwood, TX. We had 6 guys and 2 teens - lost a few that went down in the taller rice next to us that the dogs couldn't find/catch so we stopped at 40. We saw hundreds - probably the most teal I've ever seen on a single hunt. And there are 5 of 'em wrapped up in here - Jalapeno bacon weaved together, mixed some apricot preserves with cream cheese and put some on the bacon weave, then added the teal breast cut in chunks, then wrapped up and rolled over - added strips of fresh jalapeno on top of half of it (forgot to put 'em inside). Baked at 275 for about 1.5hrs, then turned on roast at 375, raised the rack up two spots and finished it like that for about 20-25min.

HOLLY Drool Batman!! That looks delicious. On a serious note, don't know anyone hiring near Houston TX do ya? I gotta quit talking about moving and just do it. Seadrift area would be great..
Good shooting btw.

I hope they're still coming this way. It seems like most of our locals cleared out with the little cold fronts we've been having.

I usually hunt in Iowa the second week of the season and always kill some bluewings which is a treat for us because we never see them in the fall or winter here in Tennessee but see them in March on the way north. Teal in the morning and pheasants in the p.m., God I love Iowa!

Seems like out in west Nebraska we always shot a few blue wings when I was a kid. I'm just starting to hunt ducks again and have only shot a few green wings this year. Quite a few still around, I missed plenty.

It's been my experience that the green wings come through late. What I have seen in Iowa is mirrored in tennessee, as I never kill green wings in the first part of the season. Every teal I have ever killed was in the last two weeks of the season and it has always been cold cold.
