I did not. Which is not surprising, I rarely win hunting lotteries.
This reminds me of the late 80's and early 90's when there were not many deer up north. It kinda sucks.

No joy here either. There are plenty of deer here near Squaw Lake. Two friends on motorcycles each hit one this summer. For the woman it was her third. .

Update... only 2 of our 7 person crew got them so far.
Were up in 184 west of Bemidji. I saw more timber wolves than bucks last year so having the option to fill the freezer is nice.

I can't actually complain, in 180, at least our area of it, there really isn't much for deer. The looooong winters the last few years knocked em around pretty good. As did the woofs.
We have been seeing some tracks of does and fawns which haven't been around much lately either.
I'm curious to see what the cams turn up now that I have a few out and deer are moving a bit more now.

I drew one in 246, around Brainerd-Pequot Lakes. No lack of deer around here, we see them on evening walk or bike ride.

Update. Stepson also got a doe tag. We have 3 doe tags and at most will have 6 hunters in camp but more likely only 4.

We were very lucky this year, normally when it a draw we are lucky to get one for 4 or 5 of us. Went over some of the early trail cam pictures and found a fuzzy one that looks to be a big 8 or 10 pointer.

Wiffed in 184.
Good news is Jack da Mouse and Skitterpop are 10 this year and itching to drop any venado that crosses their stands. So that means Daddy guts and drags. Which is what Daddy's do ...

GE Yep! My Jack is chomping at the bit as well. He's 10 and having deer visions already! Thankfully, we have football to take his mind off of it for now! Since we do have doe permits in our area he can pop one as a yout hunter. We are looking for any deer as far as I'm concerned. I'm hoping to get a doe in a park hunt we have so we'll have some venni anyway!
