Either a strap model or a zip front vest.

Looked a Cabelas and don't want the mesh material/imported cheap crap.
You bump up or go under a fence and hit a barb and they'll tear.

Looked on line at a Filson strap model, and a Wing Works strap model, much better build quality. Both over $200. Kind of partial to the Wing Works.

Any ideas/favorites?

I received a Wing Works upland vest as a gift. Super build quality but kind of heavy. I think it will last two or three bird hunting lifetimes.

I have an Orvis strap vest that is much lighter that I really like and have used for the last 14 years. Much lighter weight and pretty good build quality. The Orvis vest is cheaper but not nearly as well made as the Wing Works.

Couple of things I like about the Orvis over the Wing Works. Orvis is lighter so cooler. Mesh carry bag in back so birds cool off. Lighter and softer material allow me to keep the vest on if I jump in the truck to move to a new area without having to take the vest off.
Double pockets up front allow me to seperate shells and gear a little easier.

Good luck with whatever you buy.

I like the cabelas bird belt. I have a couple of vests and they are ok. One thing I don't care for is having shell loops exposed on the right side. One of mine has them exposed and when mounting my gun the butt usually knocks a couple of shells outon the ground. She'll loops also need to be tight enough or covered to prevent dropping out when you bend over.

A strap vest might be the ticket this weekend. It is supposed to be close to 80.

I just bought the Tenzing BV15 Upland Bird Vest. It is wonderful.

Those Filson's have sure climbed in price (think I paid around $80 - but not sure anymore) - great vest, but a minimalist design.

All the vest's I've owned were to dang hot so I went to the Filson strap vest 30+ years ago.
Works for me but everyone likes what they like.

Has anyone tried a "Jed Clampett" style shoulder bag?

Ps I stopped by a Filson dealer yesterday - the Filson strap vests are $99.00 - don't pay someone $200.

Pella Bird'n Lite upland vest or strap vest. I've got the upland vest and love it.

Can get a bit warm, but wore it this weekend hunting pheasants with a light long sleeve shirt. Was in the low 80's and not a big problem. Has pockets for water on each side. One for you and one for the dog.

probably other places to get them.

I usually wear a mesh clays vest my inlaws got me for christmas some years back. It's marked Beretta I think?

Big pockets up front, bag in back, fits well and is mesh so not hot at all.

The Filsons look nice.

I wondered about that.
I know Filson's proud of their stuff and I haven't bought any of their gear in decades but $200 didn't sound right.
