There's one locally.

Nice wood, deluxe version and in very good condition. It has the Weatherby 4X scope with the integral mount.

I don't know if it's a Italian or Jap model.

Those that own them, what do you think of this rifle?

Is it worth the almost $800 they're asking for it?

Avagadro,

Thanks for the reply.

I've looked at several of the auction sites and it seems to be in line $.

I just came from the shop after looking it over again.

It's pretty much perfect.

I need to talk them down a little and maybe throw a trade his way.

Good Luck .... I'd wish I'd bought a few of them in the late 90's and early 00's when they could be had for $350-450 depending. Oh well.

I like mine just fine...it's a Japanese made model and clip fed with original weatherby scope. I don't think 800 is the deal of the century but not terrible. If you can bargain a little go for it, like AV said they aren't coming down in price any so I doubt your gonna regret it..

That is a fair price.

The scopes go for $200-250.

I have bought more than I can remember of these.
I usually pull the scope off and sell it.

The iron sights are excellent, graduated at 25,50 and 75 yds, I believe.

If you can find one manufactured by Mossberg…..buy it.

This is my second favorite .22 semi.

Call me curious, but what's your first favorite .22 semi and why? Thx BT

If I buy - my plan would be to put the scope on my grandsons Chipmunk .22 rifle and replace it with something better......

"Why", less for a Japanese model?

I have several Jap made firearms and the workmanship and materials are very high....

Blacktail,
My favorite .22 semi is the Winchester 63. No real good reason. I just like 'em.
Only the last couple years of production of the 63 had grooved receivers.

The Jap Weatherbys are fine rifles( there were 2 Jap manufacturers) Also, the Jap models were the only ones to have a tube magazine.
The Weatherby is a slight bit complicated and a PIA to clean. I have had a couple that sat around for a good while and the safety was stuck, it has to slide in a cylinder and the close fit caused it to stick, nothing a good cleaning cannot cure.
As for the scope, the Weatherby 4X scopes are pretty big and clunky.

You might consider selling it and finding a Redfield 4X 3/4" tube for the Chipmunk. These are nice petite-well made scopes and would make a nice fit for the boy.
Don't hesitate to buy this fine rifle, if in good or better condition.
On the right side of the rifle immediately in front of the receiver the barrel will be marked : "Italy" these were produced by Beretta.
Best,
Chuck

Cisco are you sure about that?? I'm almost positive mine is Japan made and is indeed clip fed. Now I gotta check when I get home...

I see you may mean that the Japanese made both tube and clip fed and the Italians only made clip..

Cisco and all:

They came down $100 and I brought it home.
It's Italian made, #32xxx.
One 5 round magazine and a camo Weatherby gun case.
Here's a crappy cell phone pic to give you a peek smile

It's an obvious ground squirrel killer... I got two in a very short time.

The rifle itself, is awesome! What a difference over my 10/22! It's nice having an adult size .22LR rig.

I like the single shot option and the tang safety a lot, too.

I will need to change the scope. The little Weatherby 4X just isn't enough for the digger shooting I like to do.

Blacktail,
Very, very nice. You did good.
Thanks for pics.

Certifiable,
The Jap versions were tube fed or Magazine fed . Sorry, for the confusion.

On another note, the very early Berettas had no contrasting wood, still, very nice.
Best,
Chuck
