Dang... maybe this is Obama's new executive actions?

Permanent rerouting of all firearms shipped through the USPS?

Steelie, naturally, was the test case. grin

I saw the grips he had. Waiting on it already didn't look like red Ryder to me😀

My new purchase finally showed up 5 days late. Left on my doorstep. I was supposed to have to sign for it, but oh well. smile

My local USPS made me ship a shotgun registered mail, took twice as long then had no signature of anyone signing for it.

I'm not sure what the difference in registered and certified mail is, but the lady at the post office said I had a choice...

1) just a notification from the PO that stated the pkg/letter had been delivered, or
2) a receipt put in my PO box, showing who signed for the pkg/letter. This receipt has the date and time on it also.

I'm not sure which is which, but there is a difference.

They told me registered went driver to driver through post offices with everyone signing along the way and would be signature required it got there but no name on the card I got back.

They didn't want to even ship it because they don't know there own rules and finally they saw in their rules where the postmaster could require registered and since it would cost three times more they of course required it, I had already burned my whole lunch hour and told the purchaser it would ship that day so sucked it up and paid it.

Now I know I can drive 15 miles away to a less urban, (get it?) post office and they can read and comprehend their rules and couldn't care less that it's a gun and are great to deal with.

The seller who sold me my item told me the USPS has been crazy of late. He wasn't sure if it was weather related, or what. He shipped a $2500 Luger, and it went missing. He filed a missing gun report with the BATF, and suddenly it was delivered.

But my local PO has done several flaky things. More than once I have checking tracking and the website says, "Delivery attempted, notice left" when there was no notice. I go to the PO and magically it appears.

Well the local Postmaster came through (he's actually not my postmaster, he's 2 towns over but that is where the FFL is).

When it arrived there today he personally delivered it to the FFL at 830am.

When I walked in they said 'Gee Scott, you must be really important'

I hope it arrived in good condition. As many trips as that firearm made across country, it had plenty of opportunities to get damaged.
