I am thinking of adding a scope to my Remington 870 for turkey hunting. Any suggestions as to brand/model/reticle? Don't want to spend a lot, but don't want trash either. I am thinking that I really should not need over a 4x fixed power.

I've had a Bushnell Trophy 1.75 - 4 Shotgun scope with the Circle reticle on my Beretta 303 12 ga. and my 390 20 ga. for the last ten years with no problems.

I have a couple of Leupold Rifleman scopes with the turkey-plex reticle and think that it would work OK, but I have never shot a turkey with either firearm on which those scopes are mounted, a DPMS Sportical and a Savage 24F in 223 over 20.

Any quality 1-4 or 2.5 would work although I much prefer a red dot 1X for turkeys. I have an EoTech EXPS3 on my 870 but then switched it to an Ultra Dot.

If you really want a SCOPE, the Leupold 2.5 weighs only 6.5 oz and has 4.9" of eye relief, which might save you a nasty bump on your noggin.
A red dot is the best choice, I think and the Burris Speedbead will mount between the stock and receiver without any drilling and tapping. It's extremely light and will give you the best cheek weld.
A saddle mount will hold a scope or red dot and goes on and off easily, but like a top mount, may leave your cheek off the comb unless you use an add-on pad. There are also mounts that clamp to a vent rib, but they require a long eye relief scope or red dot.
What fresh Hell is this?
