This will be my first diy elk hunt in Colorado. I'm prepared the best I can be.

I'm hoping to get the last 2-3 days in but the Army is doing a darn good job in trying to screw that up right now.. But 4th season cow tag up in unit 13.

I'll be cow hunting in unit 61 4th season. I'll also be hunting my home unit 41 during 3rd season for a cow and a buck.

I will be looking for a buck the 3rd and a cow or a bull the 4th. I hope every one has a safe and successful hunt this year. Good luck .

Hunting bulls 4th season here on the Western Slope. Already have a freezer full so I'll be picky. The worse the weather between now and then the better. I'm liking what it's doing as I type.

Yup, it's raining down low in the Grand Valley. I am hoping for piles of snow. Deep deep snow will make life easier.

Why is "deep deep snow" easier? I get tracking them but getting in and out has to be a pain and the pack out has to be brutal.

Micky, It's easier for me because deep snow will push them down from altitude to within a couple miles of my house. They are hung up on high a big chunk of private land right now for the most part. If it gets deep they will get hungry and come down to BLM.

More and deeper snow means the bozos will stay very near the roads. Perfect!!!

If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot them?
