OK, if I do this it will be starting from scratch with an action.
What bolt face do I need for a 243.
I'm thinking maybe send it to PacNor for a 3 grove 9 twist barrel, 23 inch in some light weight number, then find a good smith and have it pillar bedded in a Micky.
Comments?
This is intended for a girl, currently 13 who will never be very big.

Same bolt face as a .308 or 7-08; 0.473". Spin it faster rather than slower; 1-9" should work well. Maybe go 21". Otherwise, you're in the berries.
America needs to understand that our troops are not 'disposable'. Each represents a family; Fathers, Mothers, Sons, Daughters, Cousins, Uncles, Aunts... Our Citizens are our most valuable treasure; we waste far too many.

I guess the 243 would be the best choice for what I want it to do, but for some reason I've never learned to like the 243.
I'll do a bit of study before I decide.
Thanks to all for the input. You may be like me. My experience with a 243 was more than 40 years ago when premium bullets were a rarity to say the least. Saw lots of C&C bullets break apart and not do their job. Today that is not a problem and the 243 is at least adequate for deer sized game with decent shot placement.
I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.
