It is not a bad little boat and is fine for the river I fish.

Some of these kayaks are a bit outrageous. Recently, I was looking at a fishing kayak on display at a big sporting goods store. Deep cycle battery, electric motor drive, rod holders and on and on. I grabbed the bow and tried to lift it. Holy crap! I'll be the entire outfit went 140 lbs or so. Price tag was just shy of 3K!!

My old 13' Smoker Craft canoe is lighter, bigger, more stable and a hell of a lot cheaper.

I have two wilderness series sit on top style ocean kayaks, a 12' and 14'. I use them for ocean fishing and hoop netting for crab and lobster. I have some "Scotty" mounts on them for holding fishing rods and a fish finder. Many of the guys that kayak fish near me prefer the Hobbie or Malibu kayaks but that may just be a personal preference. Personally if I were fish fishing freshwater water lakes and streams I would go with a canoe. Once again that may be a preference thing since that's what I fished in while living in Michigan. I like the idea of being able to transport more gear due to the extra storage space. You can pack all of your camping gear(and a cooler full of beer) with you with ease. To each their own opinion.
