Will 6.9 ford diesel bolt to the 4 speed in a 1985 f250 with a 300 six?

Is that transmission strong enough to handle the torque of a diesel?

I can't answer your question but I have one of my own. Is that transmission strong enough to handle the torque of a diesel?

I don't know if they'll bolt up either. But a Ford 6.9 diesel is not a torque monster or anything. I believe they were Ford's first foray into the diesel arena and they are a naturally aspirated engine with pretty sedate HP and torque outputs. Wouldn't be surprised if Ford used the same transmission for both engines at that time, especially as both were available in 3/4 and 1 tons.

The engines have a different bellhousing bolt pattern, but t doesn't mean the transmission wouldn't bolt up to the bellhousing. Don't know if the shaft diameter/spline count would be the same.

Might try asking on some of the Ford forums online.
