Last night I got 2 boxes of Winchester 22MAG FMJ for $40 Got it because I have not fired my Ruger Single 6 with the 22MAG cylinder in 5 years or more. For some reason my single 6 was always much more accurate in 22MAG than 22LR. Always liked 22MAG and happy to see it back in stock but hate the 2015 price.

<SNIP> For some reason my single 6 was always much more accurate in 22MAG than 22LR. <SNIP> That's because 22 mag bullets have a larger diameter than 22lr bullets, and Ruger built the Single-Six Convertibles with larger diameter bore barrels to be on the safe side.

I believe I saw Win super x 40 grain hollow point for $12 a box and cci&hornady Vmax, with fancy polymer tip about $15-17 a box at cabelas. I think. Does it have to be fmj? There is a cabelas in Maryland. Given the size of that state, you cannot be more than 5 minutes away How are they for rim fire? There is now a 45 grain 22mag pistol load. Optimized for pistol length barrels. I would try those. Ha! If you can find it. One of my favorite LGS always has those.

Right now 22MAG is hit and miss. Sometimes you get lucky and other times not. If Hillary wins we will all be unlucky all the time.

Hotload, just keep gearing up, brother. No matter whose dog is crappin on the White House lawn. You have a way with words. This is my 3rd or 4th shortage for ammo. My first shortage was gasoline. Someday, it could be food. Stuff happens. We are lucky if it is only who's dog.

Hotload, just keep gearing up, brother..... Got my single6 about 20 years ago. Love that gun as much as an old John Wayne movie. Fired off a box of 22MAG but I'll hold on to a box for now.

It is really hit and miss here. If you find it they have quite a bit or nobody has any for months.
I bought a keltek pmr30 and still haven't fired it. I don't have much ammo and don't want to just burn through it.

My Ruger SS likes WW GRAY bOX 40 grain JHPs a lot. Will shoot under an inch @ 25 yards and the same with 34 grain Supreme WW (different POI though). The Fiochhi 40 grain JHP goes into 3+ inches. It also hates 30 grain CCIs.

I and my Marlin 22WMR bolt action love the WW 40gr HP ammo, but I have only been able to add two boxes of that precious metal in the past two years! CCI, on the other hand, is available pretty regularly now at one of my local gun shops. My Kel Tec PMR30 uses both/either with no preference. CCI 40gr FMJ or HP is on the shelves at the moment and I have been stocking up on the HP version. PM sent to see if you need an extra box for that Single Six of yours.
PLUS 1!! on that Hornaday 45gr Critical Defense load. That stuff really rocks in a pistol or revolver. In my PMR30 it clocks over 1400fps, which is 200fps faster = and using a 45gr bullet - than most 40gr loads run in a handgun. I buy all that I see and can get my hands on.

New Dunhams opened here in Racine recently. Picked up 12 boxes of CCI 40 gr 22 wmr maxi mags. They have a very good selection of guns and ammo in that store.
