Anyone do this? Do the M1s click or is there an additional step to complete when going from friction adjustments?

Just a little note, when I had an M8, I asked Leupold to put an M1 on it and they told me, "Can't."

When was this?
I've seen a number of M8's so equipped on this very site.

I've seen a number of M8's so equipped on this very site. about 2-3 years, IIRC. I'll see if I can find the email. They told me the unit was too old and the would not be able to add an M1.

Mine must have been too old or the tech was a jerk.

Don't mean to carry Stick's water for him, but what does this do that a Phixxed Phugger doesn't do except cost 2X as much and have nothing on the windshield?

6x SS = 20.3 oz @ $299
6X Leupold with M1 ~ 12 oz @ $450 (figure the 299 leupold with $150 for the M1
Doesn't seem worth it to me.
Less weight with less capability and less adjustment range.

M1 elevation is like ~$90 IIRC. add that to a scope he already owns and it's a no brainer.

Less weight with less capability and less adjustment range. Leupold fixed 6 has about 1" more eye relief, is a (slightly) brighter/clearer scope and you don't have the windage turrett sticking out the side. It's not perfect, but neither is the SWFA. $$$ aren't the big issue for me, I'd happily pay double to get exactly what I wanted if it was an option. David

The Leupold person said if the serial number started with a letter or didn't start with a letter that that determined if the upgrade could be done. I don't remember which one it was, but mine was ok for the upgrade.

David I'm not a huge 6x fan, but that's how I see it too... same could be said for a fixed 8x/10x/12x Leupold. For a guy who spins a turret a couple dozen times a year... and mostly just hunts to 500 or so, the 6x-M1 combo is hardly a 'bad' choice. If you want to spin it a couple hundred (or thousand) times, and want the more precision based reticle... then the SS is the clear choice.
You better pray to the God of Skinny Punks that this wind doesn't pick up......

Less weight with less capability and less adjustment range. Fair enough; if that were the situation I'd totally be on board w/ you. As was said, I already had this scope and thought I'd use it as a guinea pig. Also I (sadly) have no where to shoot over 600 yds so the extra room for adjustment wouldn't be an issue. This whole build is a "do it as cheap as I can" and ironically it was my way of not buying another rifle (your Ruger). Instead I'm assembling parts I already had and in this case improving one peice: LR98 Mauset, #3 SS 6.5mm tube chambered to 260 (unsure of twist I got it here for a great price) and dropping it into a stock a buddy gave me. I will however be buying a fixed fugger if and when I decide to go ahead.

My M8 has been spun at least as much as my SS's and is still dead nuts. I love the Super Sniper's but the M8 and M1's is a great combo. Travis
