Appreciate all the recommendations.

Headed East next week and noticed a Filson store in Minneapolis where I can try one on.

Best wishes.

I hunt with a filson strap vest. This much I know: the more capacity a pack or vest the more gear you will take and this equates to more weight. For me, the filson forces me to be more efficient in what I carry for the hunt. YMMV

Just spent the weekend in a Filson Tin Cloth strap vest. 7 1/2s in one pocket for quail, nickel-plated 5s in the other for pheasants.

I much prefer this to a full vest, especially in the heat. It was getting into the 90s still in the midday.

Mine has orange back and pocket flaps, which is useful for me in many situation, but even though I have monitored Filson inventory off and on, I can't seem to find the regular, non-orange version in stock in my size. Sooner or later ...

Pricey, yes, but I like my orange so much I plan on buying a second in regular and figure, with Filson quality, I am set for the rest of my hunting days.

LL makes some pretty good stuff and for upland gear I usually look to them first. Note: No buckles to mount the stock onto. May be my build, but when a vest has buckles they are always in the wrong place.

Works for me but everyone likes what they like.

On the Texas Gulf Coast, if the temperature is above 74° the humidity is too. No matter if you went naked you're still gonna drip.
