I thought we had the time of our lives in Oct with these Small mouth bass. Until tonight, we caught 7
4 were in the 14-16" range
1-7.5 pounds 21"
1-7.3 pounds 21"
1-8.2 pounds 22.5"

What an amazing evening on the river!

Silver or Brass Mepps?

My biggest Smallie was on a small silver Spinner bait with white skirt.

It was long, but did not have the shoulders those fish of yours have. Doubt I would have landed him if he was that heavy.

With UL and 4# test it was probably 15 minutes before I ever saw him and when I first saw just his head, I figured that I would never land him.

That river now has an access point about every 9 miles so and with the advent of people getting jetfoot motors, it is not likely to ever be another one that size in there, not with all of the fisherman there are now.

My basic spinning rod with either stradic 2500 or 4000 reels

Using 20lb braided line with a 10lb fluorocarbon leader 20" long. With the spinners I tie a swivel between the braid and floro. With the plugs I don't use swivels.

Oh, the Mepps have silver blades.

State record is 8lb 7oz

This was 8lb 2 oz

Glad I turned it loose back to the river. Maybe it will be record class in April?
