(Shared this in the kids forum and thought I would post it here, too.)

Our local Pheasants Forever chapter hosted a youth pheasant hunt this morning and it was a memorable morning for the kids. First pheasant hunt for most of them, so after a few warm-up shots behind the clay target thrower it was time to hit the field. The first bird startled both Grace and Layne, but they then knew what to expect and both connected on their next opportunity. Lots of smiles and a morning that will be remembered by many! Thanks to the many volunteers who make youth hunts like this possible for the kids.

Awesome! I hunted longer for my first pheasant than I did for my first deer. Lots of miles in tall cover on short legs in SW Kansas before I finally smoked one.

Man that is great! Congratulations to the young hunters.

Congrats to you and the kids. Friday can't get here fast enough for me. How's the population looking around there?

Cheesy, have heard good reports from farmers in the area as they cut milo and corn this past month. Best numbers in several years, so looks like we are bouncing back a bit after the drought. Good luck this weekend!
