Called Schmidt and Bender today about the options and possibilities of 6x42 Klassic. I had recently heard that they could install ballistic turrets on these same as they did for the Precision Hunter scopes. I called to inquire as to price and availability.

I spoke with Christian, in Germany, to get straight answers. I conveyed that I was trying to create a PMII style system but in a lower power than say the 10x42. He informed me that they could make a 6x42 PMII with no issue at all as the fixed 6 and 10 power scopes share the same housing.

I asked what such a thing would cost and was told it would be the same as a factory 10x42 PMII. That included my choice of reticle and MOA or MIL turrets.

Thinking that a 6x42 PMII with a P4F reticle and .1 MIL turrets would be a nifty combo.

Worth purchasing or the answer to the question that nobody else is asking?

The 10 X 42 is my favorite hunting scope for open spaces, I say go for it.

Interesting for sure. What's the eye relief?

A little short at 80mm = 3.14 inches, per the website but I think its workable.

FWIW it is the same as the 10x42 PMII.

Eye relief hasn't been an issue with that scope.

It is an interesting concept.

Pretty much. Unfortunately for my wallet, I developed a taste for high end euro glass when I lived in Sweden. I do not know if the S&B will be 6 times better than the SWFA but it has me thinking...

I got a price a few months ago for a S&B 10x42 PMII to go with the other I have.. $1800.

They only do sesonal runs of them now.

But, a 6x42 with the 10x42 knobs would be very interessting!

I would be very interested in this with a standard mil-dot and MTC dials.

Haverluk: please ask about the P4F with .1Mil dial, and the 10x42 PM knobs.

I would also purchase one, if the price would be somewhat resonable.

$2,100 worth of reasonable if price is in neighborhood of PMII 10X-42

That's a lot of change for a fixed power scope.

There fixed powers all have that short eye relief.
Depending on what your doing it can work very well.
I'd be interested in if they could do that in a 1.5-6x42.
That would get you to 3.75 on the eye relief.

2,100 should buy a cow, right? JS

If Bushnell Elite (Japanese) were in a 6x with a turret, I would think it would be an affordable dependable scope.

Always been successful when a Leupy 6x was on my rifle when a shot presented....

Does anyone know a S&B dealer that sells at the lower end of the MSRP or would cut us a slight discount for a small group buy?

NECG is the main importer/distributor in the US. They are rather proud of everything they sell and charge full retail. Not to mention the cynical attitude they portray every time I have spoke to them.

I would rather do business with another dealer.

You might check with Alex at Euro Optics. If anyone can cut you a deal he can. But, the S&Bs might be tightly controlled like the Night Force scopes are.

Also, check with Doug at Camera Land. Doug is a forum sponsor and he often has display models that he sells at DEEP discounts even though they look brand new. I've bought several high-end scopes from Doug...he's a good guy to deal with.

Matt:

Alex Roy at Euro-Optic is now dealing with Schmidt & Bender direct. Talked to Jason there a couple of weeks ago, and he said they are now set-up to buy direct from S&B Germany.

Call and talk to Jason...he's a hell of a nice guy and has always hooked me up on my purchases there!!

Please keep us posted.

Thanks,
Jeff

Talked with Jason at Euro-Optic. Nice guy. He is willing to work with me/us.

I need to hammer down a specifics so that a part number(s) can be created and ordered.

He cautioned against the P4F reticle suggesting that in a FFP scope it would be too faint/fine to be usable. He suggested I stay with the P3 or the regular P4 as they subtend the same and are more usable at 6 power.

I plan on calling Christian back to get his take on this as well.

I am in but it seems everyone is on board with these things until it is time to cut the check.

Jason mentioned that he would entertain a small group buy but he would need half down, non refundable, before he places the order.

I understand that nobody wants to get stuck with thousands of dollars of hard to move goods in the event that people start backing out.

He is willing to give a decent price too.

I think you'll have to let everyone know what the "decent price" is before you get any takers.

I've used an older one and didn't much care for the eye relief. I know they increased it on their variables, but think the Fixed still runs 3.27

The price from Germany was quoted as the same as the 10x42 PMII. Euro-Optic retails that scope for $2099 but conceded that they would order and sell me the 6x42 PMII for around $1900ish. That was the unofficial price for one scope. Again, part numbers need to be made and the dealer will need to communicate with the OEM to confirm their dealer price. We did not discuss specific discounts of a group buy... but they are interested in making a quick buck by selling a few scopes.

I used 3.14 short eye relief variables for years and got buy.
Once they came out with 3.75 I switched over and never looked back.Even sold two of the older variables just to get rid of that short eye relief.
This scope that talking about.
Would it have the same tube as the 10x42?Pretty sure a 10x42 is a bigger scope than a 6x42.Just wondered.

One of these might be interesting. Only has 3.5" eye relief though. Anyone tried one?

Well I have been in contact with multiple US based dealers and the factory in Germany.

There have been some changes in the information that I initially received from the factory.

*The S&B 6x42 PMII is available with a P3 or Police reticle only. The P3 and Police reticles subtend almost identicle to each other.
(P3 = Mil-Dot OR Police = Mil-Dot with stadia lines.)

*The P4 and P4F are NOT available in this configuration as I was previously led to believe.

*The PMII turrets only come in standard 1/10 mil clicks.

(MOA based turrets could be available but it would be Hunter style turrets not PMII style.)

Part numbers are as follows:

6x42 PMII w/ P3 reticle and 1/10 mil PMII turrets is: 832-811-862-73-94

6x42 PMII w/ POLICE reticle and 1/10 mil PMII turrets is: 832-811-812-73-94

The dealer price for the 6x42 PMII scopes described above is still the same as the standard 10x42 PMII.

That's the way I'd do it as well. I'd love to get in on it but I'm on a medical LOA and no steady income. I've always wanted to try an S&B scope but even the used ones are out of my price range usually.

If you are referring to the turret then yes that should be the standard as 10x42 has 13 mil per revolution.

FAWC 13 mil is enough to get me to 1000 meters with a 200 partition from a .30-06

I have a 1.5-6x42 Police Sniper model with strange turrets. 1 click from 100 gives me 300 3 clicks gives me 400 + 3 inches. The reticle is a modified #4 with windage hashes. I'll never part with it. For deer hunting in Minnesota. it's the best scope I have ever looked through. You're going to love yours when you get it.
