Ed, might be overkill for some but Bob at DIP products makes standard and MOA rails and I have Leupold PRW's on my predators...

It's drilled and tapped for Weaver #12 bases. Pretty standard and easy to find.

On the midway link - do you need to order one or two bases?

Order 2... I just saw it in the most helpful negative review.

I tried the weavers, but found the Talley lightweights are much nicer. To each his own though:

So how are you guys liking the rifle?
I'm right on the edge of ordering mine, but my gun safe is really full and I may sell my ruger 10/22 to make a hole. I tend to shoot fast more than practice shooting when I use the 1022...

Hunts,
you are a man of few words, but spot on.

The ruger american is very similar to my ruger 77 tang safety so I figure its a good one to practice with.

I think my "self control" issues are that I can find reasons to buy new guns and not "love the one you're with"

I have a .22LR & a .17HMR in the Ruger American rifle. Either will outshoot my 10/22. The .17 HMR is more accurate, but the .22LR isn't far behind at closer ranges.
And in my experience, I shoot a whole lot slower and waste less ammo with the bolt guns. I tend to take my time and concentrate on the shot.JMO

I love mine. And for good reasons:

1. Extremely accurate
2. Functions perfectly
3. Great trigger for a rimfire
4. Rotary (10-22) magazine
5. Handles and feels great in the hands...
6. Way cheaper than the 77/22, but just as good..

Funny, the local BiMart here in town, said people kept on asking them to carry them....

so they ordered in a bunch of them in June...

so far they haven't sold a one...

of course that might be due to the lack of ammo availability around here also...

You might be on to something Seafire...

I looked at one this weekend at a hardware store and the clerk said most people get the 1022... probably since its about $20 cheaper and the 1022 reputation.

But I ordered my american last night!
