Ok I suck at locating info using the search function. Looking at running the 150s from my 7RM on elk next year and only have limited experience with them (big fan of the 120s though).

Looking at switching from the 168 VLDs which I've put through bulls the last three years. Want to hear about the relative toughness of this bullet on elk sized critters. I know plenty out there have raved about them, so have at it.

I plan to be running them in my 280's this season. Have always hunted with 150's in my 284 & 308 caliber cartridges. Most of them have been CoreLokt & Accubonds. NBT 150's it'll be this year.

I remember Dober liked them & killed elk w/ them in his beloved Mashburn?

Drop Dogzapper a pm. I think he was the one that dropped a big bull at 500 yards with a 7mm 08 and a 150 g NBT.

Mark Dobranski hasn't logged onto the Campfire in 2-1/2 years, and doesn't miss it at all.

Seen them work from a 7/08 on both Bulls and Mulie bucks, no exits but nice quick deaths and broken bones. Wouldn't have any issue using them again but prefer stuff with higher BCs these days.

First one is 150 grain ballistic tip 50 yards on quartering away cow elk against hide after passing through offside shoulder. Middle is a 160 grain accubond from cow elk right at 300 yards also quartering and passing through offside shoulder resting against hide on offside. Third bullet passed through bull elk broadside through both shoulder blades at 463 yards resting against hide on offside. You can see the accubond did hold together alittle better but not much of a difference. Those are the only 150 grain ballistic tips I've kept inside animals. 150 grain ballistic tips started life at 3250 fps out of my mashburn and the 160 grain accubond started at 3200fps. Between the wife and I we have killed two elk, 4 antelope, 9 deer, and numerous coyotes with the 150s out of the mashburn between 100-500 yards and those are the only two we have caught. Hopefully will get to use them on a cow elk over the next week too.

My father shot a old lead cow with a 150 bt out of a .280, it passed behind both shoulders. she trotted twenty yards over a hill and laid there dead. Muzzle velocity was about 2950 and range was right at 200 yds.
The most impressive part was the the old man was in his pjs. standing on the deck of a cabin when he shot her.

5325, I don't use this bullet, but my best pal and his son do.. They have killed a pile of elk and deer with it and the 7mm Rem. Mag. is their number one rifle.. If it didn't work well, I am sure they would have something else.. Both are hunters and riflemen..

Been hearing and reading how well for a while now how certain Btips work on large game, 7mm 150 gr being one of them. I caved, fixed up a load, and took them elk hunting.

Had my doubts, I was was a died in the wool partition slinger for elk, but after this fall elk season I thinks a little different about those fangled red plastic tipped 7mm 150 grain noslers for elk, Fragile they are not.

I put two 7mm Btips from my .280 into a medium sized bull this fall. First shot 80-ish yards was threw the slats, perfect broadside. But in typical elk fashion acted untouched. As the small band of elk was leaving the opening back into the steep canyon from which they came out of, It was very obvious the bull was indeed hit, rubbery legs and lagging badly. So i put another Btip angled into his chest and down he went, right at the edge of the nasty steepness.

A quick autopsy while gutting reviled a GAPING hole in the lungs, the heart jellied with about a 1-1/2 exit out the other side of his chest that leaked rather well. Then while skinning I found the second Btip under the hide core and jacket lying beside each other After breaking the OFF side shoulder blade, with an angled away chest shot. Bullet Failure? not in my book.

Load was 58.5 gr H4831, CCI 250. Way more accurate than need for hunt'n, but if i wanted to shoot him in the eye I could have, but what kind of bullet test would that have been

Not Balistic Tips and not .284 but my wife and I have killed one elk and eleven different species of African plains game with the 150 grn Accubond from our 30-06

here's a bull I shot 6 weeks ago using a 280 AI and 150 NBT.

shot was at 80 yards, MV was 3050 and I was using RL22. pretty much the same as a 7RM.
broadside shot, at the shot he took two steps and just stood there, so I punched him again and he fell over. both shots were within an inch of each other right through the boiler room. I punched his off shoulder on the second shot. both bullets went through and I wouldn't hesitate to use this bullet on anything I hunt.

I appreciate all the replies, I think I'll give them a go in '16.

Tanner - I do as well and I've ran the 168 Bergs for the last three seasons but had one pencil on a big 6x6 this year....luckily stuck around for a follow up shot.

I'd imagine they work pretty well out of a 7mm08, also.

For some reason, I have always felt like the 150 gr was the best bullet weight for my hunting, either in my 280's or 308's. I don't mind using the 140's in my 280's or 165's in my 308's if they absolutely will not shoot 150's. But, if your gun will not shoot a Ballistic Tip accurately I believe there is something wrong with it.

Love the 150 BT in the 7-08.
