We killed a nice, mixed bag, yesterday morning.

When I had my bird dog ( a Brit) she refused to have anything to do with rabbits, and when I shot one she would look at me like I was the lowest form of Walmart Trailer Trash.
She considered herself an elite bird dog.

Fetch means fetch !!
He doesn't care what he grags. All he wants to do is please me. Dad shoots, he goes after it.
Shoulda seen him deal with this guy in a corn field after it snuck in thinking it was gonna have a goose dinner and a load of #2 steel rocked his world.

Oh yeah, oh yeah !!!

Congrats on all the ribbons. Look forward to a lot of dead waterfowl pics again this fall. I still haven't gotten out up here yet.

Feelin pretty giddy we've made it this far.

The time spent alone with your dog, on a gorgeous evening is priceless.
Snow caps in the distance, barely a wind, ducks circling overhead, and 2 in the bag.
Here's Trap watching some ducks circling the field before tucking in, and shaking with anticipation of doors flinging open, sitting up, shots fired, and getting released for a retrieve.

Great evening with my boy.

Another season has come to a close.
Monday, being a day off for kids, I took the wife's grandson to a place I have permission to hunt, to see what was flying.
His dad has only taken him twice this season, and he was always busy doing other things to go with me, til now.
He shot his first 2 birds on the fly, the merg's, and I got the goose and ringneck.
Trap had a blast.
I went out on Thursday for the last time this season.

I got my first wood duck, a hen, but my first.

Do you eat those Mergansers?
