I'm buying one tomorrow. Hopefully it works. Don't know who did the conversion.

Anyone ever hear of such a thing?

I've never seen one but it should be a relatively easy conversion. The point of it is a little more difficult to understand! If you get it, pictures would be nice. GD

Why anyone would do that would be interesting to know.

I could understand it in Canada, less so here. In any case for what I paid I can't get hurt.

I'll work on pictures, probably going to flip this one.

The closest that I've come to that was a 54 that had been rechambered from 30-30 to 30-40 Krag.

Of course, I am old enough to remember when small town LGS regularly had Springfield-built Krags in their used gun racks in both original condition and sporterized. I "bought" my 1895 Carbine in 30-40 for $145, much to the dismay of my Winchester collector Father who didn't think that there was enough condition to justify a $145 price tag.

According to Rule's book on the M70, the 303 British was in the
R&D list of calibers that never made it.

If the rifle is an original factory rifle (unlikely but a possibility) the value, from a collectibility standpoint, would be substantial since it is likely to be unique. GD

The Lord Lovat, *Shimi* Fraser, OC of the Brit. Commandos at the magnificent raid on Dieppe, where so many Canadians died and many more came home wounded, had what has been described in the abundant literature on that battle as *his Winchester sporting rifle* which may have been a .303 and in the photos appears to be a bolt action.

I don't know for sure, but, a man with his connections and influence could certainly have had such a rifle made for him.

I would LOVE to have an original P-64 in .303, what a neat piece that would be!

Well it's in parts, gonna sell the stock, barrel/bottom metal and action separately. The threads aren't up to par.

So no pictures. Sorry.

Is the barrel a Winchester marked .303 Brit barrel?

223 Rem, my favorite cartridge - you can't argue with truckloads of dead PD's and gophers.

Nope it's a gunsmith special.

If it was a factory Winchester barrel I wouldn't have it apart.

If you can make a Swift work in a Model 70, a 303 Br would be little more effort.
