I picked up a Ruger Hawkeye Predator rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor earlier this year. I am currently having a custom 700 done in that caliber but it's not done yet and I wanted to try out this round on North Dakota deer. Took it to the small farm I hunt where the deer get big on corn and beans all summer/fall in order to survive the winter. After only seeing does the first day, I had this one walk up on me at about 75 yards out. Had to shoot him in the chest as he quartered towards me. The factory 120 grain AMAX bullet took out his offside shoulder as he ran about 10 yards and collapsed against a tree. The pic was taken about 2-4 minutes after I shot him. I wish I could report that I got him at 2-300 yards but I was on a limited schedule and he was the first decent buck I had a shot at. This is a good round in an accurate rifle. All did to it was mount and zero the Bushnell scope; then went hunting.

Congrats!

Have a hunting partner that loves the creedmoor for deer.

Good job! Beefy buck! Still in rut the way his neck looks.

I don't quite follow. Where did the bullet hit?

A couple of years ago, I shot a mature cow elk at 220 yards in the chest with a 260 Rem loaded with the Barnes TTSX 120 grain bullet under Ramshot Hunter gunpowder. The cow elk never took another step. I love both the 260 and the creedmoor.

Thank you all. Bullet entered the chest and exited out the offside shoulder.

So far this year, I've punched 3 tags with the Creed. 2 with a 123 grain AMax handload and 1 with a 129 grain SST factory load. Nothing very big, 2 does that went 118 and 141 field dressed and a 5x3 cull buck that went 188 field dressed. All were shot through the lungs within 200+/- yards, 2 were DRT and the bigger doe went about 60'. All 3 bullets went through and through, so no bullets are available for inspection.

The RAR-Predator isn't very demanding, shooting everything that it has been fed into respectable groups.

Nice work with the Creedmoor. I had been thinking that I wished Tikka would chamber a T3 in the Creed, but then Whittakers came up with a Superlight chambered for 260. As I have dies and brass for the 260 as well, I just went in that direction.

Got a chance to take a couple does with it this year and based on the delight it is to carry, the accuracy I am getting on paper and the performance I have seen on game thus far, I predict it will go to the front of the rotation for the foreseeable future.

Nice shaped rack on the creed buck. The 6.5 Creed was the cartridge flavor of the year on the Campfire and I expect that to continue into 2016.
