OK, I hope you guys feel better, I took the muzzle loader barrel (the one with the see throughs) off of the Encore and put the slug barrel on it. Gun season comes in on Saturday. I know there's a lot of bad azz rifles out there, but a 12 gauge slug is just plain nasty. I've got a Nikon Slug Hunter 3-9x40 with BDC retical and has a 5" eye relief so you don't get the crap knocked out you.

I shoot these Breneke Magnum Crush 3". It's a 1 1/2 oz. slug designed for rifled slug barrels. For some reason, the rifling goes the opposite direction as slugs for smooth barrels.

I went to the range yesterday to make sure everything is good to go. This was at 100 yrds. Don't pay attention to the one at 3 o'clock, that one was operator error but still a dead deer. There's 4 rounds at the top.

They don't go far when you hit'em.

I shouldn't tell you this because I'll never here the end of it, but when they came out with those damn Butt Out tools, somebody gave me one as a joke for Christmas. So I tried it and the damn thing actually worked but it was "a pain in the azz". smile Personally, I don't worry about the azzhole. I don't hang them long enough to worry about it.

The butt-out tool should go well with your see-thrus and bubba-buddies laugh Only thing you are missing now is a cough silencer...or are you? grin

You were right. You should have never told us about the butt-out tool.....

I'll also be carrying this. Ruger .480 SRH. I got it about 10 or 12 years ago. When I did, I put this Leupold 2X extended eye relief on it. It's very difficult to use. You have to have it in the precise position to see through it. The other problem is it won't work during the first 15 minutes and the last 15 minutes of daylight.

So this year I took the Leupold off and put an Ultra Dot on it. It's a huge improvement. It's so much easier to see through and I can actually hit the target with it. It looks like this now.

No, the the cough thingy deal ain't in my bag.

AHH, I'm not worried about the butt out info., I can take it. I'm always good for a laugh, even if I am the "BUTT" of the joke.

Alright all of you ballistics experts. Tell me this, you're gonna say I'm crazy, but the hole in that deer is the Entrance wound. The Exit wound is the size of the slug. Why is the Entrance wound so big? I've always noticed it and wondered why.

No deer...starting Saturday. I carry both, the Encore and the 480. I use the revolver for the close in "bow" shots and the longer (over 40 yrds.) shots are reserved for the 12 gauge.

I don't have the scientific explanation,( but I should...) but look at wound channels in ballistic gel, they are ALWAYS bigger at the beginning of the wound channel....
