I am absolutely writing down what I believe are potentially legitimate idea's for optic's you guy's are iunterested in seeing from Nikon. Some very good idea's, some I have suggested previously and will do so again. I also appreciate the PM's from those of you who prefer a more private suggestion.
A few have suggested windege tic's on Nikon's reticle and there is a scope that just came out that has just that. Mark's for 10 mph winds. Nikon's Advanced BDC reticle. Wind adjustment's can also be found in Nikon's Spot On Ballistic Program.

Keep the suggestion's coming, I really will pass them along.

T -4 days until opening of KS rifle deer season, one of my most fun trips of the year.

Get rid of the circles or at least offer hash marks for a more precise aiming point. I'd love my 4-16x50 monarch three of those circles were thin hash marks

I will agree get rid of circles and go to hash marks. Even though I've had good luck on paper with their BDC/circles system. Maybe have the circles get smaller to represent 12" or maybe a 6" circle at the 300, 400, 500 yards marks.
I know this BDC is for quick acquisition but if you want to shoot 500+ yards, there is just too much going on.
I am actually thinking of phasing out some of my nikon BDC's and get turrets that dial like I just got on my Burris C4 or my buddy ordered from Kenton. I just feel little more confident in dialing instead of holding over at long distance.
I will say I love my monarch 2.5-10 scope. The practical magnification of that scope is all I need. I wouldn't mind if they can go lower like 1.5 and increase the top end to 12. so 1.5-12x42.
How sweet would that be. You can hunt the brush and step up to the flats with all the same scope.

I'd like to see another company make some fixed powers. A good copy of the FX3 6x42 would be fine. I like everything about that scope other than the current reports/rumors of quality. My FXIII has been back 3 times - mostly tracking/adjustment issues.

I would like to see a 2-7x32 or a 2-7x36 (30mm tube) pistol scope with an etched glass reticle (German#4).
If I'm dreaming, I might as well dream "BIG".

I'd just like to see a GOOD 4x32 with 4" of eye relief and a long enough tube to make it easy to mount on about any bolt action without extensions....and an ocular that will clear the bolt handle in low rings....and a choice of plex, #4 or #1.

The Nikon MONARCH 5 3-15x42ED SF Nikoplex Custom XR Turret was so close, yet so far away from being my ideal scope.

Couple that scope with a wind type reticle, change it to a a 30mm tube, and it would be a good all around scope (assuming it tracks). I have no use to "custom" turrets, I like standard MOA. Drop changes with altitude and conditions, so I cannot see owning a turret that may or may not match up with my drop chart.

I have no experience with Nikon tracking, so maybe they are fine?

I'll admit, always been a little leary of Nikon, simply because of all the refurbs I see for sale.

If they did this ^^^ along with a 6x and a 3-9x40 and kept the weight under 12oz....they would see an instant increase in market share in my opinion.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Most have stated to go back to a standard reticle and lose the BDC. Give us back a good fixed 4 and 6 power scope!!!

Love this!!! 95 percent of these guys on here like the cool factor of having turrents on their scope lol. No need for all that turning in a situation where you are not going to have time to react anyway. Some of these guys are comical lol... There is a lot more to being a sniper than a scope.

I am fairly certain he had a 10X mounted on a ma duece for some of his longest shots.

Might have been a straight fine wire, rather than a duplex.

I think he had a 3-9 Redfield. I could ask my dad, Hathcock was his platoon Sgt for a short time.

Carlos Hathcock used both 8x and 10 x Unertl scopes. Bert Waldron was the man back in the day though. I'm sure no one has heard of him because he was not a blow bag like Hathcock.

I guess Im a poser...I read hatchcocks autobiography when I was in high school and remember 10x.
I'd like to hear from the non poser what would be his perfect hunting scope.

If you are talking to me? The perfect scope for killing the enemy was what they issued me. I have used mostly S&B and Unertl. Toward the end of my carrier I used a Premier for a short time. Around here hunting coyotes, fox, bobcats and groundhogs a 3-9 has been more than enough...

Well, since you asked, how about a:

Zeiss HD5 2-10x40 with RapidZ-600 (maybe slightly redesigned) in the first focal plane. Could make it a 4-10 for all I care. IMHO 3x zoom range is fine.

or

Bushnell 3-12 LRHS with a little heavier reticle, NO donut and christmas tree taper that start immediately below the main horizontal cross hair

or

Schmidt and Bender Klassik 3-12 with TDS reticle that is a little more intuitive (that is with the stadia equally or progressively spaced) and with the parallax zero truly set to 250 - 300 yards

or

S&B Summit with RapidZ-600 reticle in the first focal plane and parallax zero set to 250 - 300 yards

or

Leupold 6x42 with a Zeiss RapidZ-600 reticle and a tube about 0.33" longer

and/or

A variable with a dual focal plan reticle with the thick portion in the second focal plane and the christmas tree in the first

and

a full 4", and constant, eye relief

and (especially important)

tough enough to withstand the recoil of 10,000 rounds of 375 H&H and the adversities of airline travel. MUST track accurately/repeatable.

and

priced below $2K rebranded w/o "Nikon" label anywhere to be seen.

Good to excellent optics are assumed as well as a reasonable weight.

They could also bring out some scopes in the FFP as this is the way a BDC reticle should really be. I know they've got samples of them they just need to bring them to market now.
