Finally digging this gun out of the box from years ago.

I have 130 sst/150 SST and 130 sierra game kings from stuff I load for others.

Looking for accuracy load. Don't care about max speed.

Don't do Rugers so no clue if there is anything twirky or anything.

I have on hand quite a few powders, no AA, despise AA powders.

And only TAC from Ramshot.

Friend needs to send his off to be repaired so I put a scope on the thing tonight, will load when I get info as its rain off and on for the last days and may for the week too... don't have time to dink with load work and when I do I'll switch to 110 Barnes anyway.

Thanks, For those that don't know me, I have a LOT of loading experience.... all caveats apply and I do start lower than suggested and verify data with load books and internet data just to make sure we start safely.

Damndest thing... I like how the bolt cycles on this gun. Stock isn't any worse than SPS. Mag is a flipping total chinese joke. Don't care for accutrigger things... if the gun shoots will have to find another trigger. Has too much creep in it as is.

Just the usual stuff, 130 whatever, 59-60gr. of H-4831, been killing stuff forever and three days with those, or 55gr. of 4350, take your pick.

Or, you can drop about three grains of either and use 150s, your choice. I use 130s and have for 35 years, they work on deer.

The Timney is a mo betta trigger option.

I've had luck with H4831, 59.5 grns, and the 130 grain Hornady.

H4831 is always the starting point with .270's, but both IMR and H4350, plus RL-19 and RL-22 are always worth a try.

Thanks guys, a starting point for sure! Couple test rounds and load some ammo for the weekend.

Just gotta get dry enough to run home at lunch and shoot one day this week then.

IIRC, without looking the 60 of 4831 and 130s SGKs is what I loaded for a cousin years ago.

Reloader 22 is my personal favorite in my #1. Start at 58 grains with 130's. It is fast & accurate.

I have a couple pounds each of R23 and R26, need to work them up as well. They should have better temp stability.

Low on 22 right now but I'll make a mental note!

Hard to beat H4831 in a 270. I feed all three of my 270 57.5 grns and 140 accubonds.

the kids seem to like 30 grains of IMR 4198 or 25 grains of SR 4759.... but that is hunting at 30/30 distances.... which is pretty much what most of the hunting is around here for me..

My pre-64 liked the 130 Hornadys over 58gr of H4831 the best; at the typical range of 40 yards or so, no one missed a couple of grains. Occasionally, that load will print one of those 3-shot groups guys cut out and put in their wallets.

A few years back I picked up a couple of old boxes of 160gr NPs at a bargain price. The Hodgdon book starting load of 780 lists about 2700, a good place to be, and I ended up at 56gr, two grains under max. Two deer taken with that one, a doe I shot two years ago and a nice 8-point my son took recently, were both bang-flops, so the moose bullet works on deer too. You're not likely to recover any bullets for pictures, however.

With the 160s sighted 1 1/2" high at 100, the 130gr load prints about an inch higher, which could be convenient.

The above recommendations are all good. My favorite load is 57.0 grains of IMR 4831 with a 130 grainer. 55-56 grains of IMR 4350 is usually very good, as above. Never used RL19, but is almost the same burn rate as IMR 4831. I love the 270 round.
