Fair enough; if that were the situation I'd totally be on board w/ you.
As was said, I already had this scope and thought I'd use it as a guinea pig.
Also I (sadly) have no where to shoot over 600 yds so the extra room for adjustment wouldn't be an issue. This whole build is a "do it as cheap as I can" and ironically it was my way of not buying another rifle (your Ruger). Instead I'm assembling parts I already had and in this case improving one peice: LR98 Mauset, #3 SS 6.5mm tube chambered to 260 (unsure of twist I got it here for a great price) and dropping it into a stock a buddy gave me.
I will however be buying a fixed fugger if and when I decide to go ahead.
You'll be happy with the M1's. Just test it thoroughly before stretching it out. Leupold's attention to detail can be pretty schitty at times. Travis

I'll second that.
The half dozen or so I've played with seemed to track repeatably. But not one of them tracked in the increments the turret indicated.
Empirical results rule!

I would call and check with cs, then I would send it in anyway.
Here is why. My last experience with cs, I called about changing the reticle on a M8-6x and a Vari-XIII 2.5-8x.
They said they could do the 2.5-8 but the 6x was too old.
I sent them anyway, got the call and they wanted my cc# to pay for the 6x but couldn't change the 2.5-8.
So, it might work out, send it in and ask to clean, inspect, and do any upgrades under warranty.

Yeah that's what I did; sent it off with a letter. I've gotten different answers from different people so hoping they just do it.

Instead of an M1 turret, and sending your scope in, Leupold now has knurled turrets that connect to the coin slot style adjustment. You can get them with your given ballistic data, or simply mils or MOA. I just ordered one for a 2.5-8 that runs exclusivey MK262 Mod 1, and another that is set for MOA. It was 50 for the generic MOA dial and 60 for the MK 262 turret. I will let y'all know when I get them and test them out at the range. for accurate comeups. http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2015/08/new-screw-on-knurled-dials-for-leupold-scope-turrets/

Do those make friction adjustments not friction adjustments?

I don't know yet. My guess is friction, but until I get my paws on them, its just a wag.

Are you seriously on the fence, upon whether or not your "Magic Faux Turret" has a ratcheting mechanism in it or not?!? Holy fhuqking schit,THAT is fhuqking funny!!! Lemme tell you a little "secret"...it do NOT. Hint. Thank me later. The MK262 notion is equally fhuqking hilarious, because no matter what your pea-brain "tells" you to "think",the erector still shift gears in issued increments, which are .25MOA-ish. Funnier than fhuqk to pay extry,to have someone color a Fake fhuqking Turret for you,so it somehow gets warmer and fuzzier, less ANY change in it's mechanics. Read that again. Now one more fhuqking time. Hint. Entertaininger than fhuqk, that you are under the Delusion that a 2.5-8x will track to start with and now with a Magic Turret,it'll steer gas Gun Fodder "better". How in THE fhuqk, does your pointy-head so reliably contrive so gawwdamned much STUPIDITY? Do tell! Laffin'! So now you've tossed 110 Clams at a heavily compromised erector and some Magic Labels, which grant you the Imagination and Pretend to try and talk about glass?!? I'm on pins & needles, awaiting your "esteemed" "feedback",you STUPID Fhuqk. Wow! you are like watching a Jerry Lewis telethon. Congratulations?!? Laffin'! 'flave, You are a MEAN fhuqker, baiting hooks in sucha fashion...she had zero clue you were fhuqking with her. Now THAT,is my kind of humor!!! Laffin'!

Dr,
You're focused on the wrong things. Both are more than sufficient. The only things that matter is- which is more reliable, holds zero and tracks better?

EFW, Nice click adjustments were all it ever lacked and it sounds like a perfect improvement.
I do miss those thick #4 Premier posts. :-)
Looking forward to a trophy pic that includes it and a smiling face of one of the boys.
