Is there any integrity or structural difference between these two? Can you mount a rimfire on a high powered rifle without breaking it? thank you

According to a Leupold Representative I spoke to several years ago Via the phone the rimfire version is just as tough and can be mounted on a centerfire.

Don't pay a premium price for a rim fire Leupold. Just pick up a good used Leupold here on the fire and change the parallax (distance at which the cross hairs don't move as you move your eye up n down) yourself. It is easy to do. I did that with a vari x III that I got for a bargain at a pawn shop. Now I have a nice rim fire scope that is parallax set at 40 yards that I got for a fraction of the price of a new one. Just google "changing parallax" for u- tube videos. For that matter you could do the same with most other scope brands as well..

I already have one not in use. Hence the question.

+1 to RatherBHuntin. Major difference is the parallax setting. Otherwise you're good to go. I have an old VX-IIc on my squirrel rifle. Works fine, even without changing the parallax.
