I have a Tikka M658 in.30/06 that I bought new in the early 90s. The receiver is not drilled and tapped, but rather has a v-type groove (dovetail) milled along the top edges of the receiver. The mounting system that came with it, had clamping type rings that engaged that v-groove. It's kind of a cheap set up. I'd like to change that out. Is there a good mounting system out there that utilizes that same groove, but is better quality? Or do I need to have the receiver drilled and tapped? My search skills are not what they should be, but I can't seem to find any mounts for the Tikka M658. Just hoping someone could steer me off in the right direction. I've checked Midway, Cabela's etc. Thanks

I think you have the same thing I have on my Tikka T3. If so, the Warne rings are awesome. Also, someone here modifies the Talley lightweights for the Tikka; I think it's 16Bore. Good stuff. Lots of choices for the Tikka.

The Talley rings won't work on your rig since you said it's not drilled and tapped. The Warne rings are the answer to your question. They are awesome, strong as hell and simple to install.

Yes, you're correct. I have a couple T3s as well as the M658. The T3s are D&T, where the M658 is not. I'll take a look at the Warne's. Thanks.

I think I'm going to try the Warne's, before drilling & tapping. Thanks.
