Anybody use the stuff on knees? Stuff is magic for me, and lets me really get a good run/workout in, without a twinge of pain. Anybody know of any downside to it? I have IT band pain on my right knee that has been plaguing me for the last 6 months.

Pretty sure you meant DMSO. It helps aleviate pain and inflammation. When using it you need to make sure that the area where where applied is real clean and that your hands are clean. Apply and do not cover with any bandages and such till it is completely dry. Best one is the vet grade that comes in a gel form.

I've used it as a horse liniment for many years, and on myself. It goes straight into the muscles and blood stream, to the point that in about two seconds you can actually taste it (with no oral contact).
Good advice above, in terms of cleanliness, as anything on the surface of the skin with be absorbed into the skin and system.

Yeah it will have a garlic like taste. I know a few who have mixed in other ingredients into the gel as it will help carry it into the blood stream (transdermal), but there is whole other science behind that. If used appropriately it will provide relief and just rehab the injured area and as always approach with caution.

A first class industrial solvent which will penetrate rapidly taking itself and any other compounds / toxins it may have come in contact with immediately into your bloodstream. Self medicating should be limited to alcohol

Calvin, I took up road cycling, and IT band pain is a problem cyclists face. While I personally haven't had it, I've read enough tales of guys using hard foam rollers to great effect to think there must be something there. Worth a google. Supposed to hurt like hell but fix the issue pretty decisively. Granted, these are guys in Spandex tights, wearing a diaper.

The foam roller works.

Dude, do not do this.
You'd be better off with a gasoline enema.

There is prescription grade and industrial grade. Stay away from industrial.
Prescription grade has been injected into the bladder along with the eye, so it should be ok topically.
Addition: Forgot to mention if you are going to use it, then periodic liver and kidney function tests are recommended.

If you first mix it with Hoppes #9 and good gun oil, the sweat from your hands should act as a good water repellant and rust preventative for you firearms.

I used it years ago for a deep thy bruise, it works great almost instant relieve. Be careful though, I got in a hurry once and poured it on my leg and it ran down and melted my sox off. It was kind of a eye opener.

Is your DMSO marked with a purity level? Since it's a solvent, you want as many 9s as you can get.

The only USFDA approved human use of DMSO is to treat Interstitial cystitis.
However it is available as a liniment for topical use on horses. So your best bet is to buy it from a veterinary supply house. I would definitely STAY AWAY from using DMSO industrial solvent. Stick to using pharmacy grade DMSO.
Good luck

I used to see signs in front of houses along the highway saying "We Have DMSO", apparently aimed at the do-it-yourself crowd.
Later on, Ear Candles seemed to be the hot seller. I used to travel up to Williamsport, PA to watch my son play basketball at Penn College and one place was advertising "Ear Candle Lessons".
Amazing what people will do to themselves.
What fresh Hell is this?
