I remember the CZ-75 pistols were often compared to the legendary Sig P-210 pistol, perhaps because the slide
rides inside of the frame rails rather than the outside, as most semi-auto pistols do.
Also the CZ-75 was oft compared to the Browning Hi-Power because of its superior ergonomics.
I also like the old-school all steel construction of the CZ full-size pistols.

Todays CZ 75B - is so designated as the 'B' indicates a firing pin block (Internal firing pin safety.)
The CZ 75 BD - indicates firing pin block and decocker feature.
The CZ 85 B - is the ambidextrous-controls version of the CZ 75 series of pistols.

I would recommend the CZ-85 COMBAT which is the most similar CZ model to the original CZ-75 Pistol + the addition of:

Fully adjustable rear sight.
Extended Mag release and drop-free Magazine.
Over-travel adjustment on trigger.
A manual safety and no firing pin safety, which improves
the guns' accuracy in the trigger-pull department.

A lot of CZ 75 shooters seem to overlook or are unaware of the CZ 85 Combat model and its advantages.
The CZ 85 Combat is the 1st CZ pistol I ever purchased.

BHP GP competition models that haven't been "beat to snot" are hard for find. I'm lucky enough to own one that's in good shape. It'd be easier to find a new target grade pistol. Kimber is a good choice

Would be my choice if money wasn't an object.

While somewhat spendy, I have a friend who ran one of these, and it was an exceptional handgun. Probably the lightest DA on a traditional DA/SA gun that I have ever shot.

With that said, I would run it strictly SA, and put a flat trigger in it.

I've got a Kimber Custom Target II in 9mm that is a blast to shoot; great trigger, very little recoil, and excellent accuracy even with cheap ball ammo.

My first choice would be an older BHP.

Second choice DW Guardian.

YMMV

A S&W 952 is a fantastic 9mm range pistol.

What about a Sphinx? I'm looking into one right now. It's basically a high end CZ knockoff made in Switzerland. Everyone that has one or has shot one can't say enough good things about it.

You can get the "cheap" SDP version pretty easy on gunbroker for around $900. It's a half polymer version that cuts out some of the cost of the full version but maintains most of the good stuff.

Or, if you're really crazy, you can track down the 2000 or 3000 series. They usually cost $2-3000. By all accounts, they are made like a fine swiss watch and you'll commonly hear them called "the best out of the box pistol that's ever been made."

That's weird, I haven't seen too many beat to crap (although admittedly I have seen a few). Seems each gun show I'll invariably see one at the show. Often they're in nearly new shape.

If you do get one in good shape, they ARE shooters that's for darned sure. A bit awkward in the hand, and certainly an eye sore, but MAN do they shoot. Oh, and the triggers tend to be VERY nice.

Here's a list that a guy who goes by lifesizedpotato on youtube made with some amazing guns. He has an unbelievable (and expensive) collection.

If you want one of the "best" 9mms made, it's probably on this top 10 video.

My daily CCW is a Springfield EMP in 9mm. Do yourself a favor and take a serious look. As my grandfather used to say, "It runs like a sick kittens eye"
