Lazi,

If you decide against it, I'll take it off your hands.

Another gem.

In my case the buck froze up in some brush facing me. He literally he literally was walking right to me until I raised my rifle to eye level. At best I had a silhouette through the brush when he was moving. When he stopped I probably could've made out his face and neck with irons or with a 1x or 2x scope. At 4x I maybe saw an eye but with the sun bouncing off the brush it all blended in. So no quite a point and shoot situation.

Maybe it just wasn't meant to be but I figure one of two things would help me if it should ever happen again. I just ruled out a 1x-4x on that particular rifle. My next option is to carry a capable pistol I can transition to should I find myself eye to eye with another big boy in the brush.

Right on. I'm going to consider it for several other rifles but if it doesn't fit those I will probably let it go.

I will let you know. Thanks,

Unless you are a Leupold hater, the little 2.5 should be a good fit to the 527 7.62X39. Otherwise, perhaps a red dot.

This was my thought also. The heavy duplex in a 2.5 is great for close shots. If you need more versatility the VX2 2-7 would also be great on that rifle. I've used one in close situations for years. I've killed dozens of deer with it on 2X

?

"1x" by definition is unmagnified.

Look through a 1x and then out. It is actually smaller than your vision. We used to only be able to use 1x on a muzzle loader. They are bad. It was very difficult to see anything through them very well unless it was real close.

1x means no magnification-yes. It does not work that way with a scope, though. 1.5 makes it the same as if you were looking at it with your eye. 1x is actually smaller.

A 2-6x would make way more sense to me, but that is just my opinion.

It's called diopter adjustment... Which will change apparent magnification. If you're using a decent 1x scope and it looks smaller through the optic, adjust the diopter. 1.5x does not make it look the same as an unaided eye, nor close.

Hmmm. So you're claiming that, specifically with riflescopes, 1X is 1X and not 1.5X? A bit off topic but what about with binoculars, like my 6X Yosemites. Is it like this: 6x1.5x2=18X or 6x1x2=12X? laugh

I've never heard of a human who has eyesight that magnifies objects by a rate of 1.5X unless they have successfully had an eye transplant with a Raptor.
