How loud is the safety, think it'd be an issue if the truck was just idling?

Sweet looking rig. I picked one up for that killer price as well.

Hoping that mntboomer will fix the stock similar to yours, and I'm not ashamed to say that I copied this idea from you.

No innuendos about dutch-ruddering, or handling required.

Holy freakin' UBER compared to the initial handle. The Mini action is great. The barrel contour is great. The trigger is great. The handle is NOT proportioned to the rest of the gun from the factory.

MtnBoomer fixed all that.

Huge improvement looks-wise. Any effect on fore end stiffness?

I'm more concerned about the protruding magazine, it could bump the horn while you are trying to get the rifle shoved out the window. It also lacks a slot in the forearm to lock onto the top of your window glass. Apparently, Howa's engineers have no practical experience with truck guns.

I like it. I'm thinking .243 would be nice if ever available.

Only 204 and 223 offered currently, and I hear rumor it will be offered in 222 Rem? 222 might be interesting.

I don't think a .243 will fit. 6.5 Grendel and 7.62x39 are in the works for late next year. Don't know if I can wait that long.

Kinda figured 308-based cartridges might be too big. But the 222 would interest me.

More importantly is it too 'mini' to reach the mirror/rifle rest?

It's pretty good. Three position. Much more solid than my previous Howa's.

Not a big fan of safety's in general, but this one is not likely to get bumped when slung.

Mine is stiff as ever.

The stock too.

The detachable mag box is not the most bestest thought out design ever. But it is very functional and I have had zero issues with feeding, extracting, ejecting.

They'd be smart to start shipping them with both standard bottom metal and the DBM.

There is honestly no real practical purpose in the Mini action other than weight savings and cool factory.

If you want to run heavies obviously the Mini kinda fugks you.

But I like the old Vixen and Rhiimaki type actions so wanted to try a modern version.

Ditto.

Also notable, the long, ultra sensitive, mag release lever has made it too easy to stroke unintentionally and drop the mag prematurely.

So I have heard.

A more thorough window/mirror/rifle evaluation will be conducted this weekend.

I've found the size of the truck to be more important than the size of the rifle when road hunting however.

Good point.

It lets me know that you have not only researched this subject matter, but that you have practical experience at it as well...

Quote of the month award winner IMO!

Cool rifle Travis.
