Well I remember when the 7.62x39's were announced. And every dealer thought they were big money. Then..... Noone liked the plain wood and they sat. You could get them for $800 or a little less. To ask 2K like
On Gunbroker for one of these 1V's is disgusting. I hope they sit.

Whittaker guns had one on the rack on Thursday of last week. Can't remember the price, maybe $1100-1200 ish? It had the best wood I have seen on a new ruger no 1 in quite a while

I saw one on the rack at the LGS. Some one had dropped it on the muzzle on concrete or took a rough file to about 1/4" of it. The sticker price was $1299. The wood was about 1/8" proud where the butt stock meets the receiver. It felt like they hit the stock with some 100 grain sandpaper and squirted on some water-downed stain with an airgun and sent it out the door. I really want one but if their attention to detail is this bad on the outside, I wonder what the innards are like? There were also some scratches on the barrel near the receiver that went down under the forend.

The wood on yours has lots of mineral streaking. Not exhibition grade, but better than I've seen on anything we've received in a while.

I'll post a photo when I get it. I paid Eric today, and had my FFL send their info. Many Thanks!

I'm thinking it will let me do some interesting things load-wise. Bullets that aren't well suited to AR's for example. Plenty enough for our deer, too.

You did GOOD!!! That's the best wood I've seen in 2015 . Hope there's more out there. I have a RSI in 6.5x55 ordered.

connect the factory ring lower half to the slot in the block, tighten the screw, and ... whaddya mean that's not what you meant? smile

I don't recall having any issues with eye relief requiring extension rings on a #1 though it seems like quite a few people have. A semi heavy barreled single shot isn't the right choice for jumping jackrabbits in the sage so big FOV isn't real necessary.

... I'd go with a Leupold 6.5-20X. It'd be suitable for pretty near anything I'd use that rifle for. Plus it's long enough that if you need to shift it a bit to adjust eye relief, it'll work.

Yeah, was gonna put a Loopey fixed 12x on it, but it will need offset rings and they don't make stainless offset rings.

I'll probably rob the 6.5-20x40 VX-iii off the Princess and try that, at least to see how it shoots. But the finish doesn't match. Which is traumatic smirk
