Probably a stupid question but I'm an AR idiot, so be gentle.
Is a little wiggle between the upper and lower normal?
How does it affect accuracy?
Thanks.

Doesn't affect accuracy. If it bothers you get an accu-wedge for about $2, no more wiggle.

People think the wobble is up/down, but it's usually more side to side, caused by the hinge pin / hole fit.
.38 solution. Go to hardware store, buy a delrin/plastic shim washer, close to .25" inside diameter as you can get, hopefully less than 1/2" OD, so as not to stick out.
Enlarge hole to .25" if necessary.
Separate the upper from lower.
Tricky part (to describe, at least):
Holding rifle sights up,
Slide washer vertically between *front* (barrel end) "lower" hinge frame and upper, on bolt release side pin and insert upper into lower, as if you were reassembling, should be a tight fit now.
Push pin through lower, as usual, shut the upper, should eliminate wobble.

The actual answer is it does affect accuracy.
But its so minute in my testing it won't matter to almost anyone..
In 300 yard testing, 10 shot groups, I shot a lot of groups with the loose upper/lower. Then I bedded the 2 together, with steel bed, and got it tight.
Two things showed.
10 shot groups became more round and consistently shaped.
10 shot groups shrank in size appx 1/10 of an inch.
Made me feel better with a tighter gun.
Seemed like I shot a hair better.
But for the most part I don't think it really matters at all.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

I've put accu-wedges in a couple that were rattle traps and they tightened up like you'd expect, but it was a bear getting the rear pin in when cleaning. Press like hell and needed a 3rd hand to shove the pin.

Made me feel better with a tighter gun. I agree with the rest of the post too, but I honestly think anything that gives a guy more confidence is important and worth doing!

I've never seen tightening the upper to lower fit to make a hill of beans over 12 or so AR15's and 5 AR10's.
One of the things i like about a lot of the billet lowers outside of oure cosmetics is that many of them have a nylon tipped screw under the grip to tighten them.
