I had a pair of these boots take a dump on me this fall. I bought them from Cabela's Like others have said, they had little use. I had taken good care of them. They look like the sole just rotted off.
I'm glad I had other boots for my hunt.

I have had three pairs of Meindl boots have the soles crumble.

One pair I had used in Tanzania, one pair virtually unused at my place in Singapore and the other pair in Borneo. One pair was a replacement for the first pair that failed.

It seems warm - hot humid weather will do it. I still have a pair in moderate climate in Australia that are doing ok.

Won't buy with that type of sole at again. I have other shoes that have had the soles fail in Singapore.

Cheers, Chris

You must have a cobbler near you. There are at least 5 in my area. 60 bux is the going rate for a new vibram sole of your choice.

Guys, I'd like to see the soles in question.

If I'm not mistaken, not all Cabela's Meindl's are the same?

Different grades/different soles, yes?

For you guys going away from Meindl's, what are you going to?

I had a pair of the original Hunters which lasted a very long time for me (~5 years, hunts only). They did eventually fail when the sole started to separate. I replaced them with the German made Hiker model which is not holding up like the older ones did. The leather seems much less durable. I have not found another boot which fits as good or offers as much ankle support as the Meindl Hunters, but am reluctant to lay another $300 down if they dont hold up anymore.
