Gene and David rolled this up to help a fellow knife maker out who was injured in a hunting accident a while ago. Ken designed the knife and made the leather pouch and lanyard bead. Gene and David both made the knives. This has been a tremendous team effort from all three makers to help Ken get back on his feet. Any and all support will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks Guys! Both maker stamps on the same knife? Yeah, I'd like one too.
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

ATROX - " ... Gene and David rolled this up to help a fellow knife maker out who was injured in a hunting accident a while ago. ..." What happened to Ken Honeycutt?? L.W.

I would like to give a very special thanks to Mr. David Winston and Gene Ingram for this project! It isn't very often you will find someone that will go out of their way and put forth this much work and time to help someone else. I started aggravating Mr. Winston in the mid 90's and it seems like every time I see him I learn something new. On occasion when I miss the lesson (my fault I'm sure) I pick it or something else up from Mr. Ingram. David and Gene (if I may) are two fine gentlemen and excellent knife makers!
I would also like to thank Mr. ATROX for the post!
Ken Honeycutt
P.S. I'm still on this side of the dirt!!!! and digging for ore to make KNIVES!!!

Something like Ingram's kingfisher as thin as you'd be willin to make it. Westinghouse handles stainless pens red liners.
Welcome and get well soon.

Well wishes for you Mr. Honeycutt. David told me briefly about the project he and Gene were working on sometime back.
Friends like that are true treasures.
All the best for a quick and full recovery.

Saw this thread & I thought it would behoove me to own one of Mr. Honeycutt's fine blades. I'm absolutely queer for Cocobolo and when I saw this one on his website, I had to have it. Appropriate name. Its a honey and it should cut like nobody's business, as it is scary sharp. Beautiful grind. Excellent fit and finish. Simply elegant. Be a week or so before I get to try it out. Thank you sir! JAPPFT, GWB

No, it don't quell the symptoms of SDD (shooting deficit disorder) quite as good as perforating.............. and skinning hoglets, But fondlin' a sweet blade and grillin' some pork is a darn sight better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. LOL Thanks for a sweet one KH. Much obliged. JAPPFT, GWB

Ken also used .110 S30V stock, he'll make them thin if you ask. His knives are solid, this will be my second knife from Ken. Also, this jade G10 has moon glow liners, makes it look cool at night in the dark. Let me know what you boys think.

Ken is about to start one for me. Kens gonna modify the #50 pattern a little and try to put a little flex in it for me. I told him he could grind it as thin as he was comfortable with. I can't wait to see what he comes up with. I'm sure it will be nice, judging by everything else if seen on here.

I'm kinda new to the custom knife thing, as well as the campfire, but I can see already where this knife thing can get addictive, sure are a lot of great makers on the fire.

A while back, IIRC, Ken featured a pix of a model 50, I think it was, with green buckeye burl scales. I only have one other blade with buckeye burl and so I contacted him and asked him to do one for me with the green buckeye burl. After I received the knife I inquired in regards to the "Dorado" label versus the model 50 label. He indicated that he'd named that model the "Dorado" as the heel of the handle reminded him of the head of a Dorado fish. Ya', I can see that. Anyway, like all Ken's stuff this one is mighty fine in its execution and has a sharp toothy edge. Made short work of the silverskin on the beef tenderloin, not to mention the meat slicing capabilities. Anywho, a couple more pix of the whole enchilada....... and what a guy, I mentioned that with knives this sharp, I usually nick myself sooner or later. not only did Ken send me a band-aid, but included another for sensitive just in case I might be delicate. Yup, give a little more than what's expected and you'll always have biz. Thanx Ken Best, GWB

Really good looking knife. That's thin blade stock, is it long enough to have a bit of flex? Bet that's a slicing son of a gun.

RE: the group buy. I'm in for 2 if it is the model 21. Either 1/8 S30V tapered tang with beaded black linen and red liners, or 3/32 S30V with say...black/silver shred Carbon Fiber...?

Journeyman, be glad to make you a group of two. Holler at me sometime and we can work out the details.
Wish I had some more of that green buckeye! Nice stuff!
