This is an older Brad Thor book--from 2012.
The story is about the government and it's dependence on pseudo-government corporations for governmental needs, wants, desires.
This book addresses the monitoring of electronics transmissions of all types and the potential for misuse.

Thor's protagonist, Scot Horvath, survives an assassination attempt--several actually--
and goes in search of what is going on. Not particularly savory operators are being directed to his locations in continuing attempts at doing him in. All for the purpose of removing him and his group as potential obstacles in a plan to diminish and then take over the US.

The book is well worth a read just for the information about gov't abilities at monitoring people (as well as it's being a very good story).
