Melonite = salt bath nitriding.

I have a SIG 400 with a 16" barrel & bolt that is nitrided.

The finish of melonite is dark gray to black depending on the alloy & process, but is not as coarse a finish as is standard manganese phosphate which is used on many steel AR barrels & bolts.

Melonite is much tougher & provides a hard wear surface.

does your barrel and chamber look "shiny"? I like how SIG tech tells me they only use chrome on the military intended guns and nitride on the civilian intended guns...Just sayin is all.

then the Spartan PM400 I looked at in the chamber was "defective". It did have a nice spartan helmet embossed on the lower and came with a coupon for a lifetime supply of Trojans.

I will let you know how it shoots in a few days. I told him to hold it for me. I am going to do the stamp to SBR it and go ahead and pick up a suppressor while I can still go with my trust. Yeah I know you still can after June but I don't want to have to send in photos and prints for my whole family. Now another topic for advise. Which .30 can? I shall start another thread

A quick update:

I acquired a stripped lower and decided to move forward on this. I already had a Sig Brace I found in a clearance bin.

I tried to order what Blue recommended but they were all out of them so I went with this:

I have never heard of, or seen a Daytona Tactical but I can tell already this thing is going to be the most awesomest gun in my armory.

I have always been partial to these:

Pink Pistol for Deflave.

They still have not worked out the suppressor issue which is their big draw back.

My UBER build digested 70 rounds without flaw.

All cases were dumped at the 1 o'clock and this thing is looking UBER.

What ammo did you use?

FYI, it's not as horribly obnoxious as I thought it would be as far as noise and muzzle blast. We wore inner and outer ears and had no issues.
